I would definitely try a demo, but yeah, there aren't any for the Atelier series on the North American eShop. (Nor on Steam, for that matter.)

Perhaps this is some reassurance that the Switch version won't just be an afterthought.

Long game title is long. So, yeah, it seems to me like this game should be more popular than it is, being that it's heavily Zelda-themed. While it does function as a sequel to Crypt of the NecroDancer, it really does feel more like a straight-up Zelda game, just with NecroDancer gameplay. It's also far more forgiving (and thus, more accessible) than NecroDancer. Maybe people are put off by the rhythm aspect, but that can actually be disabled, making the game play like a traditional roguelike. The randomly generated overworld still has some structure to it, being divided into themed areas, and some parts (eg. Kakariko Village or Lake Hylia) have the same layout every time. Only the dungeons feel truly random. I realize it still might not be for everyone, but at the very least, there is a free demo, so people can try it out to see if it's something they might like.

Iwata-san is being officially translated and released in the West by VIZ Media. The title will be Ask Iwata, and it will be available next spring. ( Source)

I started to think again that perhaps I should try an Atelier game, but then I realized I probably shouldn't get into it because I would never be able to keep up with the series. Since I've had Ys on the brain lately, I've been continuing my nightmare mode run of Ys VIII. It still isn't that hard yet, due to being on NG+ and having a ton of items leftover from the previous playthrough, but then I think I'm still only on chapter 2. I also finished a permadeth run in Cadence of Hyrule. I've done it before, but it was before there was an achievement system added, so there was no indication of it in-game.

Well, then, we'll give it a try!

So, you guys know the activity level of the forum. I don't see it changing any time soon, but it is what it is. Those of you dedicated enough to keep checking up on this place are used to it.
But I was wondering if I should try activating the shoutbox. It might be useful for quick comments and other disposable things that aren't worth creating posts or threads for. I think the reason I never bothered with it before was because I was afraid it might actually discourage forum activity (ie. people might just use the shoutbox rather than make posts), but maybe we should give it a shot?
What are your thoughts?

Let's see... I'm totally getting the season pass for Cadence of Hyrule. I love it, and I still go back to it every now and then. I knew there would be more DLC on the way (the game's own credits kinda leaked some of it after the last update), but this is even better than I expected.
Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne - HD Remaster and Shin Megami Tensei V are both coming in 2021. I'm not sure if I'm interested in these, but the HD Remaster of Nocturne is a pretty cool surprise. Time to prepare for 10 minutes of disappointment about stuff that we already know about! . . . Unless this is going to the start of mini announcements leading to more mini announcements over the coming days/weeks it's difficult to have any hype for this whatsoever. Personally, even though it was short, I'm not disappointed. And it does sound like there will be more frequent Partner Showcases later this year.

I finished Future Connected a few days ago. I did all of the side quests (as far as I know), and my final time was a little over 17 hours.
I finished the main game in 123 hours and 41 minutes, which is more than 10 hours quicker than when I beat the original version several years ago. That surprised me, as I feel I did a more comprehensive playthrough this time, but maybe I just had a better idea of what I was doing.
As for Future Connected, I highly enjoyed it. I saw reviews saying they felt it was insubstantial and didn't really add much to the experience, but I disagree. I expected it to be short, and for what it was, it was exactly the kind of experience I was hoping it would be.
The world was extremely fun to explore, especially considering it was originally created as just a test area for the original game. I think it goes to show how good Monolithsoft has gotten at creating this style of game. They provided good incentive to explore every nook and cranny, and then reward you for doing it, so it all felt meaningful. It's also very beautiful, and the music was great. Just a joy to navigate.
I also really liked the story and characters. It gave Melia a bit more closure. I think Kino and Nene are the best nopon in the series yet (although, I admit, I'm not the biggest fan of nopon). I also liked how they took a minor side-quest character from the original game and made him more prominent here. (In fact, I wish he were in it even more.) It added to making the world feel fleshed out and consistent.
I like that every Xenoblade game has a unique gimmick with its battle system. I don't think the Ponspectors are the most interesting gimmick here, but it is fun to collect them all, and it's really funny to see your small army of nopon running around.
So, yeah, I really loved playing through it. It would've been nice if it was just a little bit longer, but I really can't complain.

So, if you want to pretend you're playing Super Mario Bros, but not actually, and want to build it all yourself, this is for you.
Seriously, this does look really cool, and the scrolling play field is clever. I loved LEGOs when I was a kid, and I would've gone nuts over something like this.

I can agree about only having a single save file and needing to create a separate account if you want to replay the game without losing your old playthrough. These are things I didn't like about Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I don't know why they made BotW that way, but with Xenoblade, it was probably to prevent save scumming to manipulate the Blade gacha system. (Although, you can still do it with Switch Online cloud saves.) A lot of people hated the gacha mechanic anyway.
I'll admit, I do kinda like all the dumb statistics in Smash Bros. (I can't quite remember, but I think Meteos had something like it, too? So I think it's just a Sakurai thing.) I also like the Fire Emblem stats.
With games having missable content, points of no return, and auto saving; those are things I can appreciate in certain contexts, but in general, I do think it's better if a game (particularly a long game) doesn't permanently prevent you from being able to access things later on. Or, at the very least, give you advance warning about them.

I remember Bakugan, but I've never watched it, so I know nothing about it.
From what I've been seeing online, even fans are disappointed at the announcement because the game is apparently based on a recent reboot rather than the original show.

Well, I don't think anyone was expecting Nintendo to piggyback an announcement for a Bakugan game on a Paper Mario stream, but this is the world we live in. I feel like this was an odd announcement, no matter what your expectations were. Would've been hilarious if Nintendo had sneaked in something like a Smash announcement at the very end, just to troll everyone who bailed out of the Bakugan segment.

Wow, what could WayForward be developing for Nintendo???
EDIT:
Still, to be featured in a Nintendo live stream, must there be some significance to it.
