I finished the main game yesterday. I mostly finished rebuilding Colony 6. All the reconstruction was finished, and I filled out the population. I decided to check a guide for the last few recruits since the search was getting tedious. It didn't help that Juju kept telling me there were Nopon in Frontier Village I could recruit, even though it turned out I had already gotten them all, so I spent a lot of needless time running around wondering who was eluding me. Then... ...there's a boss that shows up to attack the ether plants, but it's level 99, which firmly places it in post-game territory... ...so I decided to just go ahead and finish the game. Also, I was curious to see if the final cutscenes were altered at all. I'll probably just move on to Future Connected from here, even though I mentioned I needed to get my right Joy-Con repaired. I think it'll hold out a bit longer.

DotEmu has announced Ys Origin for Nintendo Switch!
I don't know why this didn't happen sooner, but better late than never! This is my favorite Ys game, so I'll definitely want to try to get this for my Switch!

It's been more than a year since I've updated my list, and I haven't been able to get everything I was interested in, so I'm gonna keep this simple. Samurai Shodown Neo Geo CollectionStill haven't gotten the new one. Looks like I missed my chance at a physical copy. As of now, I don't know if the Neo Geo Collection will be physical or only digital. (EDIT: There is a physical edition coming from Limited Run Games, but it's insanely expensive for some reason.) Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered EditionThis has been a long time coming, but it's finally almost here. *fingers crossed* I hope it sells well so that Square Enix will make a new one. Ys IX: Monstrum NoxWoo hoo! It's officially happening! Impressions I've seen of the Japanese version have generally said it's good, although not quite as good as Ys VIII. Nonetheless, I'm really excited for a new Ys, and happy that it's coming to Switch! R-Type Final 2Updates for this have been few and far between, so I have no idea how it's progressing. I just hope the Switch version isn't terrible (a la Disaster Report 4). The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequelI think this game is further off than a lot of people think. Just because Nintendo showed a trailer announcing it was "in development" doesn't mean it's coming out within a year. So, I think it's likely a 2022 release, maybe late 2021. (About five years between major Zelda games is normal.) I'd like to see support from companies like SNK and Falcom. (Extremely unlikely, of course, but as long as we're dreaming...) I'm still amazed that I made this comment before the Switch came out thinking it was a long shot at best, but the Switch is basically getting full support from both companies. Just to muse on it a bit: ACA Neo Geo games were being released from the launch of the system, and they include probably most of SNK's games for the platform. Maybe it's not fair to consider these since they were released by Hamster, but they apparently sold extremely well, and may have influenced SNK to throw their weight behind the platform properly. To that end, the Switch has gotten SNK Heroines, SNK 40th Anniversary Collection, and Samurai Shodown, with the SamSho Neo Geo Collection on the way, and possibly a new Metal Slug. I won't hold my breath for King of Fighters XV, but I suppose it's not impossible. Then, of course, there are the Neo Geo Pocket Color games, which are exclusive to Switch. As for Falcom, they're not supporting Switch directly, but NIS America has been going full ham on having their more recent games ported: Ys VIII and Trails of Cold Steel III are available now, with Cold Steel IV and Ys IX on the way. And while this doesn't really count, Namco Museum Archives Vol. 2 includes Legacy of the Wizard, which was the NES port of Falcom's Dragon Slayer IV: Drasle Family. So, that's one more. EDIT: And now Ys Origin is officially coming to Switch from DotEmu!

Currently, I'm right before the endgame in Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. I'm putting off finishing it until I've completed Colony 6. As far as that goes, the reconstruction is complete, and I am currently searching for new residents to fill out the population.
I'm not sure if I'll jump straight into Future Connected after that. My right Joy-Con has been drifting, and I think I might want to get that repaired first. That will mean no Xenoblade for at least a week, so it might be the best time to take a break.
In related news, I got the Xenoblade theme in Tetris 99.
A few weeks ago, I got Sega Ages: Columns II when it was on sale. It was kind of on a whim, as I've never really been a big Columns fan, and I'm not very good at it, but I guess I was just in the right mood. Since then, I've spent far more time playing it than I expected. I'm still not terribly good at it, though.

The previous rumor I mentioned about a new Metal Slug for consoles also included a new mobile game.
Well...
Now, this is the kind of 2.5D graphical style I imagined for a new main entry, so I hope it looks something like this.

Is it weird that I'm more surprised about the Wii U version than the Wii version?

Here's a features trailer. It doesn't reveal much new except that the game will have a "free to start" model. A "Lite" version can be downloaded for free, and can be played online, but there are only three dungeons. However, they can join someone who has the paid version of the game and play through other dungeons, also.
Also, at 3:52... Wow, that is not what I imagined Siltzkin's voice to sound like.
I like that they've added voice acting for the characters, but I think it'll give the game a much different feel.

It's taken over a year to finally get a Joker amiibo, maybe the issue is less of stock but will amiibo still be relevant in a few years time? While Smash Ultimate amiibo have been releasing at a pretty regular rate, the latest non-Smash related amiibo (3rd party) are for Shovel Knight (last Decemeber) and then for 1st party it's Splatoon 2's Octolings back in July 2018. Don't forget the Link's Awakening amiibo from last year. I think I agree it's more about relevancy, as amiibo have become more about being collectables rather than having meaningful game functionality.

There's going to be a Xenoblade-themed Maximus Cup in Tetris 99 from July 3-6.
So, I've been taking my time with Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. I've put in over 80 hours, and I'm about to leave the Fallen Arm. (I think I'm maybe two thirds through the game? I don't remember.) I'm mainly spamming side quests, and trying to stay on top of finding all the materials for Colony 6. My original playthrough took me 130+ hours, IIRC. I'm curious to see how long this one will last.
And then, of course, there's Future Connected.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox has been announced for Western release in 2021, and it's being ported to Switch!
Not entirely unexpected, of course, but it's great to have confirmation!

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 has been announced. I'm happy for IGA that Bloodstained is turning into an actual franchise. I know Ritual of the Night and its Kickstarter were not without controversy (and what major Kickstarter isn't?), but Bloodstained seems to be succeeding where many others have failed. I still don't have Ritual of the Night, but I was hoping to get it this fall.

The final SamSho DLC character has been revealed during the New Game Plus Expo, and it's... The Warden, a crossover character from a Ubisoft game called For Honor. Huh.
I'm not familiar with this character or game, so I don't really have any feelings about this.
Also more Neo Geo Pocket Color games are coming to Switch, starting with King of Fighters R-2. Samurai Shodown! 2 will also be available for purchase.

So, they are making amiibo out of the DLC characters. Although, Sakurai's comment about not knowing how many they'll make makes we wonder if he was referring to stock, or if not all DLC characters may get amiibo.

I was wondering if they were still going to do this this month.
NoA also notes that there will be no announcements of new fighters during this stream.
