The Netflix app for Wii U and 3DS is no long available to download from the Wii U or 3DS eShops, although you can re-download it if you've downloaded it before. The service, itself, will continue until June 30, 2021. ( Source) Strange that the Switch never got a Netflix app, especially since it has YouTube, Hulu, and (just recently) Funimation.

It's unusual for Nintendo to outright buy a developer, but Next Level has been working exclusively with Nintendo for several years, now, so it's not entirely surprising.

It's a new year, so time to update my list. Aside from my current, short list (R-Type Final 2, Ys IX, Breath of the Wild sequel), I've got two more games on my radar now: Ghosts 'n Goblins: Resurrection - I'm happy to see this series return! I'm still not sure how I feel about the paper cutout-style of graphics, but I do have admit it's much better than generic 2.5D. And yes, I know I'll probably have to beat the game twice to see the true ending, but you know what? Bring it on! Monster Hunter Rise - I've gotten increasingly curious about Monster Hunter in recent months, but then I saw a video showing how you can high-five your cat-buddy-thing, and it basically sold me the game. Seriously, though, I actually started to get more interested while playing Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition. I really enjoyed being able to team up with other players online to go dungeon crawling, and I thought "Isn't that similar to Monster Hunter (except less dungeon crawling and more monster hunting)?" I'll definitely be trying the demo that's supposed to be coming out this month. Also, it's interesting that both of these games are from Capcom. I've rarely bought anything from them in the last several years. (Just the Beat 'Em Up Bundle, I think.)

Gotta share this Christmas-themed Ys artwork that Falcom tweeted, featuring the godesses Reah and Feena, as well as young Yunica from Ys Origin.

Nice 6,000th post! For a while, I was a little interested in trying Meruru because I heard it had town-building elements, and I like town-building side quests in RPGs. But then I also heard it wasn't the best game for a newcomer to the series. (Although, opinions on what Atelier games are or aren't good for newcomers vary a lot, and most people say it really doesn't matter.) So, now I'm considering Ayesha for a few reasons. For one thing, it's the first in its trilogy, so if I enjoyed it, I could continue on from there. Plus, it's one of the cheaper Atelier games on the NA eShop, and the Dusk trilogy games are the most recent of the "budget-priced" games. Also, I was intrigued by the subsequent games having dual protagonists (one is even a male protagonist... which seems to be a bit controversial among fans?). I've also heard that the time limits are very lenient in the Dusk trilogy, but I haven't really taken that into account because I honestly don't think the time limits would bother me. I'm still unsure of how much I would ultimately enjoy it, though, so I would prefer not to pay full price, but the games are rarely ever on sale. The last time they were on sale on the eShop in NA was last Spring, and even then, it was a modest discount. It's a shame the demos are Japan-only. But nice reviews, YL! You clearly put a lot of effort into them, and I enjoyed reading them!

Here is the Super Nintendo World Direct:
This looks fantastic! Also, great to see Miyamoto host a Direct again. He even does Iwata's "Direct" salute!
Also, I am totally up for mushroom-flavored popcorn.

So, there's not much in the way of leaks from the shareholder meeting due to the usual informants not being present. The game announcements were from Famitsu. Here are the official (Japanese) sites for Kuro no Kiseki and Nayuta no Kiseki Kai. I'll update this post if anything comes to light.

I finished all the post-game content a few days ago. Been replaying the story missions on the hardest difficulty (and with blood moons, when possible). But how about a little spoiler talk? Story spoilers for end-of-game, but not post-game, content: So, this game seems to represent an alternate timeline, since it subverts the events prior to Breath of the Wild, and goes off in its own direction. I've seen some people disappointed with that, but I didn't have a problem with it because multiple timelines already exists in the Zelda series. This is just the first game to overtly acknowledge it, as well as the first to have characters from one timeline cross over into another.
I've also seen people say that the game isn't canon because it's an alternate timeline, but I don't think that's the case either. Age of Calamity doesn't retcon Breath of the Wild because the Champions' successors (Riju, Sidon, Teba, and Yunobo) go back to their own future (in their own timeline) at the end.
It does make me wonder if there will be any acknowledgement of Age of Calamity in the the sequel to Breath of the Wild from the Champions' successors. Overall, I really enjoyed the story in Age of Calamity. I think it's one of the stronger narratives in the Zelda series (helped in no small part by all the fully-voiced cutscenes).

I guess this is the first look at the next Trails/Kiseki game, as well as Falcom's new game engine:
EDIT: Apparently, Nayuta no Kiseki is being ported to PS4 for release in 2021.
Nayuta no Kiseki is actually not related to the Kiseki series, it just had the name applied to it to help it sell (and it worked). Gameplay-wise, it's an action-RPG that I've seen compared to the Zwei and Ys series'. It was originally released for the PSP in 2012, and it never had an official Western release. I guess this is another chance for that.

Falcom's annual shareholding meeting is on December 17. They'll likely reveal their release plans for the next year at it.
