Congrats finishing it!
I think I've hit my typical Fire Emblem burnout phase, so I'm taking a short break from it. I can't remember what chapter I was up to. I kinda wish I'd bothered to recruit more characters in the first part, tho, based on what I hear people say about the final chapter. I just took my usual approach of focusing on building up a core team of characters.

I don't want to pay too much lip service to a rumor, but I like the fact that this is a rumor. According to GoNintendo, the next DLC character for Smash Ultimate could be an SNK character due to a random copyright to SNK Corporation on the Nintendo UK page for challenger pack 4. Of course, this could just be a weird mistake. However, it would not be unprecedented since SNK has been lending their characters out to several other fighting games in recent years. One might also wonder if/how ths meshes with the other recent rumor that the next Smash DLC character would be an unrequested female character that would confuse and upset people. And if it is an SNK character, could this mean my joke request for Takamaru in the Switch version of SamSho is just a bit less farfetched?

New trailer for Ys IX from TGS.
Looks like they've improved the facial animations over Ys VIII. Also, there seems to be more of an emphasis on vertical movement. Influence from Breath of the Wild, perhaps?

It's officially coming West. Japanese release date is February 13, 2020.
Not sure if this game is for me, but I'm keeping an eye on it.

According to GoNintendo, Samurai Shodown will be released on Switch in Japan on December 12. It runs at 60 fps and supports a single joy-con for multiplayer. Also, early purchases will include a copy of Samurai Shodown! 2 (the Neo Geo Pocket Color game). I was getting worried about this game, but this gives me some confidence. Now, if only they'd throw in the season 1 DLC for free... Also, the SamSho Neo Geo collection was mentioned in Famitsu, but only in that it was scheduled for a winter 2019 release. EDIT: Japanese Switch trailer:

It seems that Nintendo of Europe is removing the ability to add funds via credit card to the Wii U and 3DS eShops next month for EU and UK.
This is strange. If they're linked to the same Nintendo Account that's also linked to a Switch, you should be able to add funds with a credit card on the Switch, and they'll be reflected on the Wii U/3DS eShops. Also, the same eShop cards work for all three consoles. So, it's not like you can't still buy things.
It's not clear yet if this will also happen to other regions. I saw one comment speculating that it might have something to do with new European regulations, but I don't know anything about that.
It seems a little too soon to pull the plug on the eShop for those systems already, so I'm not yet convinced it's a sign of that.

So, I'm a little confused about something.
Ashe seems to have disappeared from my roster between parts 1 and 2. Everyone else is present, including units recruited from other houses. I'm pretty sure I didn't get him killed in any way (I would've noticed that). What happened? Does it have something to do with the story? Is it a glitch?
I'll be upset if I've lost him permanently.

So, I'm only getting near the end of part 1, but I was thinking about how much I enjoy the Golden Deer characters. So much so, in fact, that I don't know how much I would care for replaying the game as the other Houses (especially based on my interactions with the other students). I did recruit Bernadetta and Ashe, but they seem to fit in pretty well with the Golden Deer anyway. (I also got Dorothea, but that was more just because I already had the right skill levels.) They're just such a lovable, quirky Breakfast Club-type group of characters, all coming from different backgrounds, but still finding ways to relate to each other. They also remind of those movies/shows about underdog sports teams filled with misfits that learn to work together. I love dynamics like that. So, I was kinda wondering how you guys felt about your students. I know YL picked Blue Lions. I think Leon picked Golden Deer, also?
Also, awesome fan art of the Golden Deer gang:

As for me, I'm a little stop and go, but I'm on chapter 9. I've recruited Catherine and Shamir, and I've been doing some side battles. Also, I've come to the realization that I'm really bad at tea parties.

Destructoid has an extensive interview about River City Girls with its director, Adam Tierney. It's a fun read. Couple of interesting things that stood out to me: - WayForward pitched the game to Arc System Works. I thought maybe it was ASW that commissioned WayForward, but it turns out that Adam was introduced to the Super Famicom Kunio-Kun game in which Kunio and Riki's girlfriends were playable characters, and he wanted to make an entire game out of it. - The assistant director is Bannon Rudis, who was the director of the crowdfunded, indie-developed (but officially licensed) River City Ransom: Underground. Apparently, he works at WayForward now.

DuckTales Remastered was one of the earliest games I got on Wii U. I think it was on sale for 50% off at the time.
I was a huge fan of the old TV show when I was young. My favorite part of DuckTales Remastered was getting hear most of the original voice cast reprise their roles again. It's all the more precious now that Alan Young, June Foray, and (just recently) Russi Taylor have all since passed away.
